Classroom Rules & Policies

  • 1. Respect all persons and property.

    Respecting all persons and property means:

    • Keeping hands and feet to yourself. Refrain from grabbing, touching, kicking or hitting other students. Stay within your own personal space. Fighting is an immediate removal from class with a discipline referral.
    • Do not take or touch other students’ personal items. Respect the property of others. Stay within your assigned desk and areas allowed within the classroom. i.e. sharpening a pencil, retrieving your notebook, walking to the garbage can. Keep out of the area behind the teacher’s desk.
    • Refrain from swearing
    • During class notes or teacher directions, one person speak at a time. Raise hand if you have a question or want to make a comment. Wait for teacher to call on you. Allow teacher to speak when giving directions or notes by remaining quiet and ready to listen. Teacher will raise hand in front of room when ready to speak. Use inside voices when talking.

    First Violation: Warning
    Second Violation: Warning and parent contact
    Third Violation: Referral to counselor and parent meeting
    Fourth Violation: Discipline referral

    2. No food or drink inside of the classroom. Water in a closed container will be permitted.

    • Keep all food and drink outside the classroom
    • It is acceptable for food to be stored in closed backpack while in class. Students may not eat food or drink from open backpack.

    First violation: Warning. Student will not continue to eat food or drink.
    Second violation: Student will bring food or drink to teacher. Teacher will keep food or drink until the end of the day. End of day means the bell at the end of 5th period. Student will not continue to eat food or drink. Parent contact.
    Third violation: Student will bring food or drink to teacher. Teacher will keep food or drink. Student will not continue to eat food or drink. Discipline referral. Parent contact 

    3. All electronic devices must be put away at all times. 

    • Place all electronic devices in backpack or pocket before entering the classroom. Device should not be seen or heard. Please turn device off or silence device before entering the room.
    • Electronic device should not be out laying on top of desk, chair or lap
    • Temporarily taking device out to send, receive or check message will violate rule.

    Consequences:

    First Violation: Student will bring device to teacher and teacher will place device on file cabinet until the end of the period. End of period means when the bell rings. Teacher will hand device to student. Phone call home.
    Second Violation: Student will bring device to teacher and teacher will place device on file cabinet until the end of the day. End of day means when the bell rings at the end of 5th period. Teacher will hand device to student. Phone call home.
    Third Violation: Student will bring device to teacher and teacher will send device with note to office for parent to pick up at their convenience. Fee of $15 will be assessed for device to be returned.
