Respiratory Illness

Madison County Schools follows CDC respiratory virus recommendations for respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19, flu, and RSV.

With such illnesses, individuals may return to school and normal activities once symptoms have improved and they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication. Please reach out to your school nurse with any questions regarding when your child may return to school and other activities.

Masks remain optional for students, staff members, and individuals on all MCSS campuses and buses.

For more information, please see the CDC website pages regarding Covid-19Influenza (Flu), and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

Influenza

ALSDE provides additional information on influenza and influenza vaccines on their website. In addition, Guidance for Preparation of Pandemics - to include influenza and COVID - may also be found there.
