Lockheed Martin: AMTAP

From the Lockheed Martin website:

The Advanced Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Program (AMTAP) is a United States Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprenticeship. The AMTAP program trains candidates on the skills to build electronics and prepares them for an exciting career in space operations. During the up-front training program participants are paid and offered company benefits. Program graduates earn a nationally recognized credential and have an opportunity for full time employment at Lockheed Martin.

NACTF: North Alabama Craft Training Foundation

According to the NACTF website, "THE NORTH ALABAMA CRAFT TRAINING FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization providing apprenticeship training,ensuring a quality workforce in various crafts related to the construction industry." 

Training is available in the following crafts:

  • Carpentry
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Sheet Metal
  • Pipefitting
  • Project Supervision (offered on an as-needed basis)


The FAME and EPIC programs combine paid work experience with an associate's degree. Both programs are administered through Calhoun Community College in partnership with area businesses such as Toyota, Bruderer, Daikin, and Toray. Participants spend 2 days each week in class and 3 days working for their sponsor company.
