Bachelor's Degree, Athens State University Master's Degree, Auburn University

Chanda Haselman

I teach Math and Daily Living Skills to the students in the Senator Learning Community. Through the years I have learned that all everyone has the ability to learn, but that not every student learns in the same way. I believe that it is my job as a teacher to do everything in my power to help your child learn to the maximum extent of his or her potential. I present information in my classroom in a variety of ways to reach all learners.  While learning math skills is important it is also important for the students to learn why math is relevant and to apply the skills to functional tasks. It is my goal to teach my students real life applications for the math skills they learn in order for them to be successful and independent outside the classroom.

I have a bachelor’s degree from Athens State University and a master’s from Auburn University. WAR EAGLE! I worked as a special education paraprofessional in Madison City Schools for four years before I began teaching.  This will be my thirteenth year teaching in Madison County Schools. I have taught in elementary, middle and high school special education classrooms. My father worked for the government and I grew up overseas. I attended schools in Saudi Arabia, Austria, and England. I also lived in Germany for a few years as an adult.  I feel this time in other countries has lead me to be open to learning about and adapting to the different views of others.
