Mrs. Deiss started teaching in California in 1994 at private schools, then moved to Alabama in 2004. She is certified in Early Childhood Education, middle school math and English, and high school math, and has taught computer education, English, math, journalism, yearbook, and art.

She is married to Bill Deiss, Pastor at Parker Chapel UMC and Owner of Southeastern Musical Services (band instrument repair and rental). She has 5 adult children, 3 of whom graduated from Sparkman High School, and several foster children throughout the years. She is a church Worship Leader, a volunteer at the Downtown Rescue Mission and Lyrique Musical Productions, a trumbauer (Theater Arts Competition) judge, an ex-cheerleading coach (16 years), and a school and Allstars cheerleading competition judge. Mrs. Deiss is the S9GS Technology Contact, a member of the RTI Team, a Guiding Coalition Member, and the Lead Math Teacher.
