Welcome to MCVA

  • I am excited to begin my first year as the principal of the Madison County Virtual Academy and to be a part of this extraordinary school community. I hope to continue the tradition of excellence that has been established over the last six years, and I look forward to working with the students, parents, and staff to ensure that MCVA is a high quality virtual school with a strong academic foundation and numerous opportunities for extra-curricular involvement. Our school’s mission is to prepare our students with exceptional character, knowledge, integrity, and skills to thrive in their ever changing world. I am a firm believer in this mission as we work with all of our students to support the needs of the whole child and share with them educational opportunities to prepare them for success after graduation.

I have been an educator in some capacity since I was 16 years old. When I was in high school, I began teaching dance lessons at a local dance studio. However, I have 18.5 years of experience in public education, all in the Madison County School System. I began my career as a history teacher at Sparkman High School, and have spent the last three years as the instructional assistant principal of Hazel Green High School. These experiences have shaped my belief as an educator of the importance of building relationships with students, families, and staff members, and I look forward to creating a partnership between home and school to provide students with the support they need to be successful.

As a product of the Madison County School System, I have spent my entire life in the community and am excited to be able to serve in the area in which I was raised. I am extremely honored to be able to serve as the principal of MCVA,  and if there is anything I can do to assist your child, please contact me by phone or email. I look forward to a great school year and am looking forward to working with each of you to ensure the success of each of the students at MCVA.
