DAC Application

MCSS Desegregation Advisory Committee members will serve for 2 years.

Dear Parents,

The Madison County Board of Education announces the creation of a Desegregation Advisory Committee (DAC) in accordance with the Consent Order in their desegregation case.  The Consent Order establishes the DAC to advise the Superintendent and provide input on the implementation of the terms of this Consent Order.

The DAC will be composed of one parent and one student representative from each of the high school feeder patterns.  Student representation will be chosen from the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Group.  The Director of Equity and Innovation for the Madison County School System will be a permanent member of the committee.

The Madison County School System, the Private Plaintiffs, and the U.S. Department of Justice are seeking applications from parents to serve on the 2024 – 2026 DAC.  The DAC will hold an initial non-public meeting and at least two (2) public meetings annually. Additional meetings may be scheduled.  The DAC will meet with the Superintendent or his designee at least two (2) times per year.  DAC members will receive reports from the school system and feedback from stakeholders.

If you are interested in serving on the DAC, please complete the application and return it to Dr. Rachel Ballard either by mail at 1275 Jordan Road, Huntsville, Alabama 35811 or by e-mail at rballard@mcssk12.org no later than May 15, 2024.
