About Madison County Schools

Welcome to Madison County Schools

The Madison County School System (MCSS) is one of north Alabama’s fastest-growing school districts, serving over 20,000 students daily across 30 campuses. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, our schools are surrounded by a thriving community that includes NASA, Redstone Arsenal, META, and leading research and development organizations.

Our district spans the cities and communities of Gurley, Harvest, Hazel Green, Meridianville, Monrovia, New Hope, New Market, Owens Cross Roads, Toney, and Walnut Grove. With six high schools, six intermediate/middle schools, fifteen elementary schools, and specialized campuses like the Career Technical Center and Virtual Academy, MCSS offers a wide variety of opportunities to meet the needs of every student.

Guided by the vision of Leadership, Passion, and Knowledge, we prepare students for the future with innovative technology, character education, and programs that inspire learning inside and outside the classroom.

To meet the needs of our growing communities, we’re building Sparkman Intermediate School, the district’s first new school in over a decade. Construction will begin on a new middle school in Hazel Green and a new wing at Hazel Green High School by Fall 2025. These projects represent our commitment to responsibly managing resources while creating spaces where students can thrive.

At MCSS, we believe in #ThePowerOfUs. Together, we’re building brighter futures for all.
