Board of Education
About the Board
The Madison County Board of Education has five members, elected by district, by the citizens of the county, to be legally responsible for making education available to all students within this district. The Board of Education is a policy-making body that functions only in official meetings. Policies are carried out by an administrative staff under the direction of the Superintendent, the chief executive officer of the district.
Board meetings are usually held at the Madison County Board of Education Central Office, located at 1275 Jordan Road. Work session meetings are typically scheduled for the first Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. Regular session meetings are typically scheduled for the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Special session meetings may be called as needed. Notice of all board meetings is posted at the Central Office and on our Board of Education webpage. Official minutes of the Board meetings, which are available to the public, are also linked on the Board of Education webpage.
The public is welcome to attend all Board of Education meetings. Those who wish to address the Board must request to do so through the Superintendent's office at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. Those requests can be emailed to cyoder@mcssk12.org and should include your name, phone number, and the topic you wish to speak on.
Board Members share a commitment to continued school improvement for the students in this system.
