Alex Hughes

Alex Hughes began his career in education in 1997 as a Special Education Aide at Madison Cross Roads Elementary School. After his MXR tenure, Mr. Hughes served as a Special Education Teacher and athletics coach at Monrovia and Meridianville Middle Schools. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Athens State University, an M.A. in Special Education from Alabama A&M University, and an Ed.S. in School Administration and Leadership from Tennessee State University.

His administration background includes assistant principal (Central School) and school principal (Central School). In the summer of 2023, Mr. Hughes was named the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Madison County School System.

Mr. Hughes has one daughter, a behavioral specialist in the Birmingham area. He is an avid fisherman and spends much of his off-time on Tennessee Valley lakes fishing competitively.
