Hunter Smith
Hunter Smith is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Master’s degree in Applied Economics with a focus on Econometrics and Forecasting. His academic background blends advanced economic theory with practical financial modeling, equipping him to lead fiscal stewardship efforts for the school system.
He began his professional career in corporate finance and most recently served as a Senior Consultant with RKL LLP. In that role, he specialized in financial projection modeling, reporting platform automation, and strategic cost optimization for a diverse client base. Prior to that, Hunter spent four years at WayForth Inc., advancing from Financial Analyst to Senior Financial Analyst. During his tenure, he developed and refined enterprise-wide reporting systems, led both corporate and site-level budgeting and forecasting processes, and presented financial results to investors and board members. His work in cash forecasting contributed to increased financial efficiency and improved long-term planning accuracy.
With a strong foundation in both public and private sector financial operations, Hunter brings a data-driven and systems-oriented approach to managing the school system’s finances. His expertise in analytical tools—including SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and R—supports the development of transparent, efficient processes that align operational strategies with instructional goals.
