HAZEL GREEN, Ala. – Madison County Schools broke ground on a new middle school in the Hazel Green High School feeder pattern, marking a significant step in the district’s commitment to long-range, student-centered planning.
Located on the north side of the existing Hazel Green High School campus, the new Hazel Green Middle School will serve all 7th and 8th-grade students zoned for Hazel Green High School.
The Hazel Green, Meridianville, and New Market communities continue to experience some of the fastest residential growth in North Alabama, all driven by close proximity to Huntsville and history of strong-performing schools. Over the past decade, increased home construction in these communities has fueled student enrollment growth, prompting the need for proactive, long-range capital planning by the district.
The Board of Education unanimously approved the new facility earlier this year as part of a broader plan to address the rapid enrollment and growth of the area. The Board awarded a $53.5 million construction contract to Fite Building Company, representing one of the district’s largest capital investments in the district’s recent history.
